In 2024, the volume of cargo transported from China through the Middle Corridor increased more than 25 times compared to 2023, surpassing 27,000 containers. according to information provided by Azerbaijan Railways.

The dry port in Sian, is Kazakhstan's-Chinese terminal, that has contributed to the increase in transit goods through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). Specifically, according to Kazakhstan Railways data, the positive growth trend continued in 2024, and the freight turnover reached 272 billion ton-kilometers. A record volume of 32 million tons of cargo was transported along the China-Kazakhstan route, which is a 13.1% increase compared to 2023. These figures indicate that the Middle Corridor route is becoming increasingly popular for freight transportation, reflecting the development of transportation infrastructure and enhanced cooperation in the region.

As a reminder, the TITR (Middle Corridor) passes through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, and then extends to Turkey and European countries. A part of the Northern Corridor is the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, whose capacity, after last year's modernization, increased from 1 million to 5 million tons per year.
